creator crew: emily jerrom
welcome to the first instalment of our new ‘creator crew’ series, where we chat with kiwi creatives we love to pieces.
so without further ado, we introduce emily jerrom, co-founder of small fashion business paddy patterns, creating handmade clothes from fully thrifted materials. their clothing is funky and fun, taking retro designs and combining them with flattering and adjustable styles, to suit all body shapes. paddy patterns came to be in october of 2020, and since then, has amassed nearly 1000 followers on instagram, consisting largely of the otago university students who they originally were supported by.
Since leaving uni, emily jerrom has got a full time “adult” job in HR consulting, and is creating as a wee side-hustle. a young kiwi creative who loves all things floral, pink, and nostalgic, emily jerrom is definitely one to keep your eye out for.
When I create I’m usually...
“anywhere with a g&t in hand.”
I’m usually listening to...
“Rascal Flatts or anything country,”
and normally, ....
“I’m not alone (although now with my business partner in Wellington I am alone when I create).”
Being a kiwi creative is awesome to me because...
“no one else is doing what I do - it’s all original ideas with pre-loved fabric.”
I often prefer... fun patterns
over... plain fabric
because... they’re waaay more exciting!
